Governance Foundations

BoardSpark Governance Foundations is a live educational workshop that teaches your board what effective governance actually looks like in practice. It is designed for boards that care deeply about the mission but have never received clear, structured training on their roles, responsibilities, and boundaries.​

 

During this 2-hour training, your board will:

• Learn their core legal and fiduciary duties, including care, loyalty, and obedience, in accessible language with real examples.​

• Understand the difference between governance and management, and how to support staff without micromanaging or disappearing.

• Explore what makes meetings meaningful—how to use agendas, reports, and committee work to drive strategy instead of just listening to updates.
   

The workshop combines teaching with interactive discussion and scenario-based exercises tailored to your organization’s context. Board members leave with shared language, greater confidence, and a clearer understanding of how to show up as effective, engaged leaders alongside the CEO.​

 

Typical investment: $1,200–$2,500 per workshop, depending on length, format, and customization.
