Onboarding

The BoardSpark Onboarding Experience is a half- or full-day educational retreat that orients new and current board members to their roles and to your organization’s strategic direction. It is ideal for boards experiencing turnover, rapid growth, or a desire to “reset” and move forward together.​

During this training experience, board members will:

  • Learn or revisit clear expectations for board service, including roles, responsibilities, and boundaries.

  • Receive accessible teaching on your mission, vision, strategic priorities, and how governance supports long-term sustainability.

  • Participate in guided exercises that help them practice effective board behaviors—asking the right questions, engaging in strategy, and partnering with the CEO in a healthy way.
     

For full-day options, the retreat often includes time for goal-setting, light strategic alignment work, and planning for the next 12 months of board work. New members leave with a strong grounding in their role, while long-time members gain a refreshed sense of purpose and alignment.​

 

Typical investment:

  • Half-day training retreat: $2,500–$4,000

  • Full-day training retreat with onboarding materials: $4,000–$7,500.
