Partner with Us

When serving as a Program Officer in rural Kansas, it became clear that organizations with strong, engaged boards were a natural magnet for resources of all kinds. They attracted funding, volunteers, and community partners more easily, and they were better positioned to act quickly when new opportunities or crises emerged.

At the same time, many of the organizations most vital to their communities had very limited access to practical, board-focused capacity-building support. There were moments of wishing for a simple, affordable tool that could be put directly into leaders’ hands—something that didn’t require a major training initiative, a large grant, or additional staff time to implement.

BoardSpark and the No-Ask Fundraising Deck were created with that reality in mind.

Why this matters

If you are a community foundation, United Way, association, or other nonprofit support organization, you exist to strengthen the nonprofits in your region so they can deliver on their missions for the long haul. You see firsthand that an organization’s ability to engage its board in fundraising, governance, and strategy has a direct impact on its stability, resilience, and ability to attract resources.

BoardSpark offers a practical, low-lift way to help your grantees, partners, or members improve board engagement in fundraising, without adding another heavy lift to anyone’s calendar.

How Partnership Can Work

Partnerships are flexible and can be shaped around your context and goals. Examples include:

  • Providing the deck to a cohort of grantees or member organizations as part of a capacity-building initiative.

  • Incorporating the deck into existing board development, leadership, or fundraising readiness programs.

  • Sponsoring beta participation for selected organizations in your portfolio or network.

  • Using the deck as a common tool across a group of organizations, then convening them to share what they learned and how their boards responded.

The aim is to give you a resource that is easy to distribute, simple to implement, and powerful enough to help boards move from intention to action.

What BoardSpark Offers

The BoardSpark No-Ask Fundraising Deck is a hands-on tool designed for real board meetings, planning sessions, and facilitated conversations. It gives nonprofit leaders a simple, structured way to talk about fundraising with their boards without defaulting to pressure, guilt, or confusion.

Instead of asking organizations to sign on for a long training series or intensive program, you can equip them with a tool they can start using right away to clarify expectations, surface energy, and identify practical next steps board members can actually take.

What Your Organizations Gain

Organizations you support can expect:

  • A structured, no-pressure way to bring fundraising into board conversations.

  • A shared language for discussing board roles and expectations around fundraising.

  • Clearer, more realistic next steps for board members at different levels of comfort and capacity.

  • Increased confidence and engagement from board members who may be willing but uncertain about where to start.

In short, they gain a tool that can help increase board-driven donor engagement without increasing staff burnout.

Who We Partner With

BoardSpark is a strong fit for support organizations such as:

  • Community foundations that want to strengthen the capacity of their grantees.

  • United Ways that offer support beyond grantmaking and allocations.

  • Regional, state, or national associations that serve networks of nonprofits.

  • Rural and small-city funders looking for scalable capacity-building approaches.

  • Intermediary organizations that provide technical assistance, coaching, or cohort learning experiences.

If your work includes helping nonprofits build stronger boards, improve fundraising readiness, or increase long-term sustainability, the No-Ask Fundraising Deck can be a valuable addition to your toolkit.

Format Options

BoardSpark offers both a physical and a digital version (coming soon!) of the No-Ask Fundraising Deck so you can support boards that meet in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format. The current beta focus is on the physical deck, and the digital version will follow, with partner interest helping to determine which format is the best fit in each context.
